Top 5 Places to Visit this Spring

After a long, cold winter, you’re likely to be ready to do some serious travelling in spring so you can celebrate the warmer weather. Spring is an ideal time to travel, with weather that isn’t too hot or too cold, blooming flowers everywhere, and shoulder-season pricing.

But where should you go? There are so many excellent choices, but here are the top 5 places to visit this Spring:

Canada

If we’re talking about travelling in spring, there’s no way we could forget about Canada. Sure, we may be currently digging our way out from mounds of snow, but eventually that snow will melt and we’ll be enjoying cherry blossoms and sunshine.

Head to Fogo Island, Gros Morne National Park, Cabot Trail, Quebec City, or High Park in Toronto for some of the best spring scenes. Don’t forget that Canada topped the list for best places to travel in 2017.

India

If India has been on your wishlist for some time, make it a spring trip. If you’re lucky enough to visit for Holi, this festival marks the arrival of spring in India, and visitors can take part with water balloons, water guns, and coloured powder sold along the road. Because you’ll be visiting in the off-season, hotels and flights are relatively low, and you can enjoy a temperate climate without also freezing when you’re up north.

For a beach holiday, head to Maharashtra, Kovalam, or Goa, or visit the wildlife sanctuaries in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, or Madhya Pradesh since the animals will be leaving their dens.

The Netherlands

We’ve all seen the photos of rows of tulips in The Netherlands, but did you know that they were so popular in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries that the county had an economic bubbled called “Tulip Mania.” Tulips were even used as currency, which is why you should visit Keukenhof Park, which is the world’s largest flower garden.

The waterways are also something to see, with Amsterdam known as the “Venice of the North”, and the picturesque windmills making cruising a must if you get the chance.

Amsterdam itself is amazing throughout the year, but the streets will still be relatively quiet so you can take your time exploring without continually rubbing shoulders with other tourists.

Mexico

Whether you want to see ancient ruins or spend the whole time on the beach, Mexico is a great destination if you don’t quite have the time to fly to Europe or Asia and still want to be speaking a different language or breaking out your bikini a little earlier than you would at home.

For a diving trip, head to Cozumel to swim with sea turtles, or lounge on the beach with a drink in hand in a resort. The nightlife in Cancun is excellent, and Mexico City has recently seen a huge increase in popularity.

France

From the tourist sites in Paris to the beaches in Nice, France offers something for everyone, particularly in Spring. This is a great time to enjoy cheaper prices, so head to Provence which is typically crowded and hot in summer but full of blossoming trees and lavender fields in spring.
