While there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a family vacation near home, visiting the local amusement park for what seems like the tenth time in the past few summers can lead to a trip that is anything but fun and games. Repetitive excursions to previously adored destinations can likewise lead to bored children whining about their lack of things to do and harried adults desperately trying to come up with some fun activity for the kids that isn’t a repeat of what went on last year. If that sounds like your clan, perhaps you might want to consider selecting a new destination for the annual family vacation such as the ones in the following list.

Belize: This affordable English speaking country offers a good mix of ancient Mayan ruins and sandy beaches for travelers to enjoy. Wildlife is plentiful here as the country’s lush jungles and native coral reefs are home to a number of indigenous species. There naturally are plenty of excellent places in the area for kids to go snorkeling. Scuba diving, zip lining, and spelunking are also fun activities that those making their way here should certainly try. After all, Belize is a particularly great destination for families with older children.

Thailand: Widely regarded as an incredibly kid friendly country, Thailand additionally has a number of gorgeous beaches with clear waters and sandy shores. Adults will be pleased to learn that the country boasts all the  modern amenities that travelers could want at budget prices. Children will be equally happy to note that the country is home to number of wild animals such as elephants and monkeys that can’t be found in North America. Plus, the local cuisine is also great and the weather is warm year round so Thailand is a definite winner as far as family vacations go.

London, England: Here history comes alive as children see various places that they have heard about in school such as Buckingham Palace, the Tower, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. Although hotels in town can be pricey, most museums in London provide complimentary admission and many of the city’s historical churches have free concerts during the week. There are also numerous parks and green spaces spread throughout the city where visitors can enjoy a nice picnic lunch. However, spring is the best time visit the United Kingdoms as the country can be quite chilly in the winter months.
