Affordable Eats: Bath, England

A few weeks ago, we published a blog article on the reasons why travelers should visit Bath if they happen to be vacationing in the United Kingdoms. However, all that sightseeing can leave people hungry so here are some of our favorite food choices in Bath that certainly won’t break the bank.

Ole Tapas: Who would have thought that Bath would be home to a tapas bar in the true Spanish style? At this spot, vegetable tapas start at £1.95 ($2.80 USD) for fried corn and £2.75 ($3.90) for pork rinds while meatier options like pork tenderloins in cheese sauce go for £5.25 ($7.45). None of the tapas are over £9 ($12.75) so this is likely an economical option unless you are the sort of person that simply has to taste everything. Beer is the cheapest drink option, with the wines getting to be quite expensive on their own. The restaurant only is closed for two hours every night between 10 pm and midnight, which makes it a good late night spot to hang out as well.

Same Same But Different: All of the starters at this spot are under £5.50 ($7.80) and most of the breakfast menu items range from £4 to £7.50 ($5.70 to $10.65) making it more of a mid-range choice rather than a budget one. However, most of the Mediterranean style entrees (mostly sandwiches and salads) are under £10 ($14.10) except obviously the sirloin steak. They also have a decent sized wine list as well as coffee, soda, beer, and tea. This business is open most days of the week between 8 am and 6 pm with shorter hours on Sundays and longer hours on weekends.

Chapel Arts Café: This popular spot serves up toothsome sweets, succulent soups, delicious flatbreads and tasty coffee drinks. Menu items generally come under £8.65 ($12.25) except for the large tapas platter that is designed to be shared. Tea, wine, beer, ciders, and sodas are also available. Visitors should note that the establishment only has vegetarian fare and make their plans accordingly. The restaurant is open between the hours of 9:30 am and 5:30 every day of the week.

Happy Travels!
